Top 4 Architectural Trends Of 2020

As we enter into a new decade and begin to look at trends within the industry we will start to see a variety of changes in architecture. In light of things such as climate change architects and designers have begun to rethink the way they design and build.

1. Adaptable Open Spaces

Where the integration of the kitchen and family room has been the norm, these spaces are now being expanded to include exterior living spaces like screened terraces.

2. Focus on the Outdoors

Balconies, terraces, and patios are being reintroduced as major design elements. If properly conditioned and maintained these spaces can be enjoyed throughout the year depending on climate.

3. Greater Attention to Kitchen and Baths

Kitchens and bathrooms are continuing to grow in importance in design and the kitchen remains to be the center of household activities. Bathrooms, are no longer just spaces for grooming and personal care - It has developed into a space of relaxation and recovery after a long day.

4. Renovation and Rehabilitation

Historic and older homes in particular add historical value to cities and towns. Renovating and retrofitting older homes can at times be more economical compared to new construction depending on location and when they were built.
